Empire style, with Japaneseflowerprint and square inset in the front and back with a-symetrical closure in the front trimmed with black and white and 18 half shank buttons, covered with the same fabric as the dress, 24 flat pleats in the front and back. Bishop sleeves with black and white trimming and 4 same buttons as closure dress.

Jean Varon is the artist name of John Bates well known designer of the UK from the 60s until the eighties. Though he was inventor of the mini skirt his fellow designer Mary Quant took the credits. He is also known for designing the costumes for the heroine Emma Peel in the wellknown British serie 'The Avengers' in the 60s Especiallly welknown are her black leather cat suits.
